Frequently Asked Questions
What can I expect during the free phone consultation?
A phone consultation typically lasts between 10-20 minutes. During this call we hope you'll be able to determine if our practice is a good fit for you. The call is a chance to discuss your needs in more detail. A therapist will ask what brought you in, what you're hoping to work on, and any other important details you'd like to share. Additionally, the therapist will discuss their therapy style and answer any questions you have about the practice. At the end of the call, you and the therapist may jointly decide to schedule a first therapy appointment. Or you may take more time to decide what works best for you; and we will end the call and wait to hear from you.
Can you tell me about in-person therapy and teletherapy options?
At this time our practice is teletherapy only. Sessions are held through a HIPAA-compliant platform. All of our therapists can practice therapy in at least one of the DMV states. Some of our therapists also have additional licensing to practice many other states (approximately 40 states) thought a licensure compact called PSYPACT. To see the most up to date list of eligible states please visit this website: https://psypact.org/mpage/psypactmap. To see which states each therapist can practice in visit our therapist page!
How often will I meet with my therapist? How long will treatment last?
We typically recommend weekly therapy sessions. Consistent weekly meetings allow for steady progress, provide regular support, and help to maintain momentum in your therapeutic journey. This frequency also enables us to address issues as they arise, making it easier to achieve your goals. Additionally, regular sessions help to build a strong therapeutic relationship, which is crucial for effective therapy.
The length of treatment depends on the individual’s or couple’s needs, so it can last as long as necessary to meet the goals of treatment. Each person's therapy journey is unique, and therefore the length of therapy can vary. Some people find it helpful to have a consistent supportive figure through out their life. We'll regularly check in on your progress to make sure you're getting the support you need.
Do you accept insurance?
We accept a limited number of insurance policies. Please visit each therapists’ page to see what insurances they accept (therapist page).
What are your out-of-network fees?
For all other insurances we are considered an out-of-network fee-for-service therapy practice. The full session fee is due at the time of service. You may be eligible for insurance reimbursement. Many insurance policies will reimburse some of the cost for an out-of-network provider (typically 40-80% depending on your policy). In this case, we provide a superbill which is part of the paperwork needed for an out-of-network claim.
Our fees are the average standard for psychotherapy in the DMV area.
Individual psychotherapy session: $230.00/50-minute and $325/90-minute
Couples psychotherapy session: $300.00/50-minute and $425.00/90-minute
Supervision: Supervision is free to all staff. Check out career options! Just looking for supervision? Please contact us directly for rates.
Can you provide prescriptions for medication?
