I see therapy as time dedicated to unpacking your thoughts and feelings. It is a space where you can safely find new ways of understanding yourself and your relationships. It is also a space to process past experiences that may have been confusing or painful. Therapy works best when you have a therapist who is attentive, compassionate, and non-judgmental. I believe it is crucial to have a trusting therapeutic relationship where you feel genuinely seen and valued, allowing space for all your identities to be acknowledged and validated.
My clinical foundation is evidence based and is rooted in psychodynamic, relational, multicultural, and cognitive behavioral theories. This means I will work to help you recognize and challenge certain thoughts or behaviors that may not be serving you anymore; and help you find opportunities for change. In this effort, I often find it helpful to discuss unresolved conflicts, early life experiences, or automatic patterns. I believe that by gaining insight into these underlying dynamics, we can develop effective coping strategies and promote lasting change. I will also create ample room for you to process current relationships and deeper emotions.
I have particular experience working with LGBT+ identified folks and I'm proud to provide LGBT+ affirming therapy; and in fact, I identify as queer myself. I also specialize in anxiety presentations, college students, high functioning professionals, interpersonal/relationship concerns, couples.
